Laurels History - Laurels Service Station & Van Hire

There has been a fuel station on the current site for many years, but it was the 13th of September 1963 when Mr David & Maureen White first came to "The Laurels", and how the business has changed over the years! Vehicle repairs were done outside in all weathers, and often your fuel had to be hand pumped personally into your tank, as it was a regular occasion to have no electricity for days on end especially in the winter time.

This is Mr David White back in 2001 when Shell Optimax was Launched. He was so proud to have the Ferrari Formula 1 Car on the Forecourt as raced by none other than Michael Schumacher. Over the years the whole business and site has been developed with David & Maureen putting so many hours into their business. Firstly came a larger undercover workshop and then in 1986 a major decision was made to re-develop the whole site and go self service of which The Laurels was the first garage in the area to do this. Then in the early 1990's a new large custom built workshop was built to accommodate more vehicles and offer more services to our ever increasing customer base.

Throughout all of our years we have been a Shell distributor of quality motor fuels and lubricants, this is something that David was so proud of and would have never changed, we are currently one of the longest standing Shell dealers in the country and we are extremely proud to offer quality Shell products. Over the years we have seen many changes in the fuel and lubrication market, firstly with the launch of Shell Optimax which is a performance fuel developed alongside Ferrari. Later this product was enhanced even further and today is called Shell V-Power, once again developed with the Ferrari race team. We were very proud to win many awards over the years as Shell distributors and have been awarded the “Shell Shine Award” on numerous occasions which reflects in the high standards we strive to achieve. Our business has been built solely on personal recommendations and over the years we gained not only many customers but also many loyal friends. Sadly in 2008 David suddenly passed away, however the business goes from strength to strength with his two sons, Paul and Guy carrying on in the family tradition, with Mum Maureen in accounts and our loyal staff team helping to deliver a reputation for friendly and professional advice whatever your requirements.
